Stocking Your Condo, Where to Grocery Shop near Waikoloa

The short answer

The closest full grocery is Island Gourmet Markets at Queens’ MarketPlace, an easy walk from Hali’i Kai. For a better-value run, KTA Super Stores in Waikoloa Village is about 14 minutes up the hill. For the big stock-up, Costco in Kailua-Kona is about 30 minutes south, best folded into the drive in from the airport.

The first-night strategy

If you are landing at Kona and driving straight to Hali’i Kai, Costco sits close to your route south of the airport, worth a stop if your group is large enough to make the warehouse sizes worthwhile. If you would rather keep the first drive simple, skip the detour and stop at Island Gourmet Markets once you are close to the resort, or continue up to KTA Super Stores in Waikoloa Village for a fuller local shop. Either way, arriving with the kitchen stocked beats a hungry search for an open door on night one.

What your suite already has

Every Polu Resorts suite comes with a full kitchen, refrigerator, oven, cooktop, and the small appliances that make a real breakfast possible, including a coffee maker and a kettle. At a minimum, all properties provide salt, pepper, sugar, cooking oils, spices, aluminum foil, plastic wrap, paper towels, dish and dishwasher detergent, and trash bags, with extras provided at no charge for stays of 14 nights or less. Farmers markets

Tuesday
Kings’ Shops runs a farmers market on Tuesdays, a good stop for fresh fruit, local produce, and small-batch goods without a full grocery trip. Worth timing a walk over if your stay lines up with a Tuesday.

Wednesday
Mid-week farmers market in Waimea at the Pukalani Stables runs each Wednesday. You’ll find local vendors, food trucks, and fresh produce. If you love small town vibes, stop by this one mid-morning for an excellent brunch in Waimea Town.
